France Sends Gypsies Back To Romania — New Nicolas Sarkozy Immigration Policy
France Sends Gypsies Back To Romania – New Nicolas Sarkozy Immigration Policy – For the second day in a row, around 100 gypsies, otherwise known as Roma, were shipped off back to their native Romania. This is a move that has many government criticizers calling discriminatory. “We’re moving toward an official racism,” says Arnaud Montebourg, a socialist lawmaker.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the current French President announced a “war” on delinquency in France in late July. This has resulted in numerous gypsies being rounded up, and bussed off to planes waiting to take them back to their native homeland.
The French government allows the deportation of European Union Immigrants if they stay in the country longer than three months, but don’t have the official paperwork necessary to allow them to work legally.
Many of the gypsies have volunteered to leave, as they are each given a monetary incentive of $386 per adult, and 100 euros for each child that leaves.
